Off to @media 2006

Right - it’s time for the seemingly obligatory post that all good bloggers have to do when they’re off to a conference - the one where they boast about going off to it. So, here goes - I’m off to @media 2006!

Seeing as how I live in London anyway though, I won’t be making the long arduous journey from Silicon Valley or deepest, darkest lightest Sweden. Instead, I’ll be getting on the same train I catch every morning for work before making a single changes to get to the Conference centre. It’s going to take me less time than it does to get to work on a normal day, which is nice.

So, what sessions am I going to be attending? After lots of wrangling with the other chap at the office who’s going as well, we finally came up with a schedule which allowed us to attend everything between us and kept us both happy. Here’s what I’m going to:

Thursday

  • 09:15 - Keynote Presentation
  • 10:45 - Using DOM Scripting to Plug the Holes in CSS
  • 12:00 - IE: 7 and Beyond
  • 14:00 - The New Accessibility Guidelines: WCAG 2.0
  • 15:30 - Designing the Next Generation of Web Apps

Friday

  • 09:00 - Bulletproof Web Design
  • 10:30 - Beyond a Code Audit
  • 11:45 - Internationalisation: Awakening The Sleeping Giant
  • 13:45 - Yahoo! vs. Yahoo! vs. Yahoo!
  • 15:00 - Microformats: Evolving the Web
  • 16:30 - Hot Topics

I’m really looking forward to the conference and getting to meet so many great developers. Hopefully, I’ll even be able to give a couple of greats my card, which arrived yesterday. I’m really quite pleased with how it came out in the end.

Oh, and whilst I’m talking about my card - does anyone want to own up to buying me Angel Season 1 off my Amazon Wishlist? It looks like someone’s bought it for me, but I’ve had no email from amazon telling me this. I’m a little confused. So, if it was you, I owe you a business card. Lucky you!

Anyways, I hope all your travels to London go well. It looks like you’ve missed the sun now - that disappeared yesterday with glorious downpours, and it’s still a bit overcast now. Apparently it’s all heating up again for Thursday and Friday though, so I hope the conference centre is as nicely air conditioned as my offices are.

I’ll be at the pre-conference get together this evening, so I look forward to seeing those of you who are able to make it. The rest of you - see you on Thursday!

If you enjoyed reading this and would like other people to read it as well, please add it to del.icio.us, digg or furl.

If you really enjoyed what you just read, why not buy yourself something from Amazon? You get something nice for yourself, and I get a little bit of commission to pay for servers and the like. Everyone's a winner!
