FYI: Apple Recalls Laptop Batteries

I found out today that Apple are voluntarily recalling certain iBook and PowerBook batteries due to a problem which could cause them to overheat, leading to a fire hazard. Clearly having ones nether regions set on fire is not a good thing to have happen.

So, if you have a 12” iBook G4, 12” PowerBook G4 or 15” PowerBook G4, and you bought it between October 2004 and May 2005, visit that page and see whether your battery is one that’s affected.

Myself, I was only just not affected - I ordered my iBook on the 27th September 2004, and had it shipped on the 2nd October. My battery serial number falls just outside the affected range. Phew.
